With winter well and truly on the horizon, it’s time to start thinking about cold-weather attire and most importantly, how to stay warm while still looking chic. I’ve scoured Instagram for examples of how to do just that and found nine outfits that would make anyone excited for frosty conditions. If you’re looking forward to winter as much as I am then read on to start planning your winter wardrobe. From casual outings, dinners, brunch or date-night, you’re sure to find inspiration in these outfits. Bring on the cold!
1. White Coat + Grey Jeans + Pointed Flats
Even if it’s not snowing outside, you can still channel the snowy vibes with an all-white coat — the equivalent of wearing a blanket of snow. It’s a bold look but one that feels simply beautiful. To ease the contrast between black and white, opt for a pair of grey jeans for balance.
2. Faux-Fur Coat + All-Black Base
Want to look both expensive and effortlessly cool this winter? This outfit is how. The luxurious appeal of the faux fur coat is contrasted with the nonchalant attitude of the relaxed trousers and jumper. The coat calls attention while the other elements remain understated and effortless.
3. Leather Coat + Grey Jumper + White Trousers
White trousers are commonly associated with the breezy linen styles of summer but don’t let that fool you — tailored white trousers are perfect for brightening up winter looks. For example, this outfit utilises a black, white and grey palette, keeping it simple while playing with texture.
4. Oversized Jumper + Trousers + Slingbacks
This outfit is perfect for a casual office look. Keeping it simple yet stylish with an oversized jumper and relaxed trousers, it feels smart yet effortless. Finish the look with a pair of patent slingbacks for a polished and professional feel.
5. Jumper + Skirt + Sock Boots
Simple and sophisticated, all-black looks are always a good idea. For a fuss-free take on noir dressing, pair a chunky cashmere jumper with a soft knit skirt, bringing in a touch of dimension with leather sock boots. Complete the look with a pop of white using a sleek bag.
6. Leather Coat + Suit Trousers + Ankle Boots
Leather trench coats are perfect for the cold-weather season, fighting off those rainy days while still looking sleek. Since the coat and shoes are rich in texture, keep the other elements simple with a pair of trousers in deep caramel and a simple black turtleneck.
7. Leather Jacket + White Trousers + Ankle Boots
Brown leather not only feels rich but is also a practical choice for the cold-weather months. The bright white trousers offer a bold contrast between the warm hue, while the neutral turtleneck bridges the gap between the two.
8. Grey Skirt + Wool Coat + Burgundy Bag
This is a great look for the office — sophisticated, smart and effortlessly chic. Grey has a classically professional vibe to it, meaning this midi skirt is on point. Bring in some texture with the patent boots and a little depth with the burgundy bag.
9. Herringbone Coat + Shirt + Faded Jeans
If smart-casual is what you’re after, opt for this look with its classic button-down shirt, faded black jeans and leather ankle boots. A herringbone coat is always a sophisticated choice for winter that adds dimension to black-and-white looks like this one.
