Right now we find ourselves right in the middle of the Jan/Feb slump. It’s freezing outside, the Christmas lights are no more and all anyone’s looking forward to is spring. This time of year can make wardrobe inspiration feel a little challenging. That’s why I’ve put together six outfit formulas I can always turn to during this time of year. When I’m getting dressed for an average day, I consider a few things: “Will I be warm in this?”, “Are these shoes comfortable/practical?” and, of course, “Do I feel happy and confident wearing this?”. Below, you’ll find my selection of outfits that I feel cover these bases and will keep me going until Spring. Ah, spring, please hurry, we miss you!
1. Turtleneck + Jeans + Statement Bag

With all the darker colours and abundance of layers during winter, it’s nice to break things up with a bright and bold statement bag such as Bottega Veneta’s Cabat tote in green. Statement bags are like a secret hack for taking a casual outfit and turning it into a polished one. For example, take a turtleneck sweater, casual jeans and sneakers — this casual ensemble can be completely transformed just by using a pop of colour.
2. Camel Coat + Sweater + Metallic Sneakers

Metallic footwear is set to be one of the big trends for 2025, and I, for one, am right behind it. The metallic sheen of these sneakers provides a striking contrast against camel and black — a clean and neutral colour palette. It’s the perfect contrast between timeless elements and a modern twist, creating a simple and minimal everyday look that doesn’t feel boring.
3. Navy Sweater + Jeans + Boots

Navy and black are a failsafe combo which I find myself reaching for time and time again during this time of year. Although, sometimes it can all feel a little too dark. To add dimension, pair a tailored black coat and navy sweater — both from The Row — with distressed blue jeans and chunky boots. This will contrast the polished appeal with something more rugged. Finally, bring in some colour with a tan bag.
4. Shearling Coat + Trousers + Sneakers

These sneakers from Dries Van Noten are perfect for this year’s upcoming trend of narrow, retro-style sneakers. A year-round favourite, these sneakers could be paired with dresses, jeans, trousers, you name it. Here, I’ve paired them with a soft muted palette consisting of Toteme’s khaki shearling coat, Khaite’s beige Calvin sweater and The Frankie Shop’s black wide-leg trousers. Casual, practical and put-together.
5. Cardigan + Jeans + Combat Boots

When choosing a chunky boot like this, it’s nice to balance it out with lighter tones such as this Toteme coat in mushroom and blue light-wash jeans. Add a cardigan and a tee for a touch of preppy appeal (which again balances the shoe). Complete the look with a suede Margaux bag in black to match the boots for an effortlessly cool everyday look.
6. Faux Fur Coat + Striped Sweater + Jeans

If I’m ever in doubt about what to wear, I know I can always turn to a trusty striped sweater. This one from Khaite is simple, classic and easy to style with just about anything. Add a faux fur coat for a touch of glamour and balance it out with a pair of casual black jeans. For a modern twist on classic loafers, opt for these mesh Alessio loafers from Khaite and add Bottega Veneta’s Cabat bag for added dimension.
